PROSPECTIVE STUDENTS
Studying Chemistry at the University of Bristol is a truly life-changing experience. Students love the courses, facilities, the city, and also the support and social life provided by Fusion, the University's student-led Chemistry society, and Bristol's Society of the Year 2021.

Why is Fusion one of the best Chemistry societies in the UK and Society of the Year 2021?
1. We run regular exciting social events
Our members love the variety and enjoyment of our social events – these include nights out, pub quizzes, bar crawls, film nights, scavenger hunts and more! Two of our highlights include the Christmas and summer formals, always very memorable occasions. Have a look through some of our past socials on our Events page.
2. We hear from exceptional speakers
Go beyond the scope of the course with our academic guest speaker events. This year we've been able to welcome academics from around the world, including Oxford, Texas and China. We also invite alumni to provide careers support to our students.
3. We build a sense of community
Developing the community within the School of Chemistry is of paramount importance to us. We do this through opportunities for students to connect with each other, across year groups, and engage with academics outside of lecture theatres. Our family scheme is a great example of the support schemes we run.
4. We don't leave anyone out
We make sure everyone feels included and welcome, irrespective of their background. We have recently launched both an LGBTQ+ and BAME Network to support those members of our society. In addition, we run dedicated non-drinking events as we know alcohol isn't everyone's thing. Encouraging equality and promoting diversity is one of our primary goals.
5. We're here for our city too
Our support is not just for our members. We're determined to leave our local community in a better place than we found it. That's why we work with local charities and organisations to support them, whilst benefitting our members with additional support and resources. We also work with the Bristol ChemLabS outreach team.
